TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU...
I became a business consultant in 2016, back when it was one of the highest recommended career pathways for EAs. I’d like to switch out of consulting and into a more impactful position.
What I'm like: organized, detail-oriented, motivated
How clients describe me: tenacious, proactive, positive, professional, thoughtful
What motivates me: solving problems, learning every day, producing great work, establishing and growing relationships
WHAT CONSIDERATIONS GUIDE YOU IN DECIDING HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPEND YOUR CAREER? HOW DO YOU PRIORITIZE OR WEIGH THESE?
Right now (2024), I am looking for:
1. High impact. Pretty much anything outside of consulting will fulfill this need, relative to my current position!
2. Leveraging my consulting skillset. My sweet spot is at the intersection of people and processes, and I think that a position that requires those skills will help me have the highest counterfactual impact possible.
WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IDEAL ROLES FOR YOU, WHAT ARE SOME
KEY CHARACTERISTICS?
I have developed a broad skill set with an emphasis on project management, team leadership, process improvement, clear communication, and general people skills (including stakeholder management, people management, and mentoring). I am currently (as of 2024) working as an engagement lead for a team of ~20.
I think that these skills are my comparative advantage in the EA space generally, and they lend themselves well to a “ops”-type role where I might need to juggle multiple balls at once.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE RECRUITERS LOOKING AT YOUR PROFILE TO KNOW?
As a consultant, I have learned to ask powerful questions to get to the root of underlying problems and uncertainties. This means that I have gotten quite good at ramping up quickly in new contexts.
