TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU...
I am a recent graduate of public health from the University of Cambridge and current academic studying planetary health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Prior to this, I've worked many jobs across the food system, from non-profit food bank management to agricultural production. My focus over the years has been to feed people in a way that is healthy and sustainable for both ourselves and our planet.
WHAT CONSIDERATIONS GUIDE YOU IN DECIDING HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPEND YOUR CAREER? HOW DO YOU PRIORITIZE OR WEIGH THESE?
The theme and logistics of the work both play a role in how I consider spending my career. I prioritise aligning my work with one of the following themes, as they learning and working in these areas has consistently fulfilled me throughout the years: food/nutrition/agriculture/climate change/rural development.
The logistics of the work, both how the work is done and how the work enables a happy life, are also heavily considered.
WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IDEAL ROLES FOR YOU, WHAT ARE SOME
KEY CHARACTERISTICS?
Though I have worked in evidence generation and synthesis for 3 years, I think that I am better suited for research communications and management as I enjoy learning and speaking about complex topics, am a good communicator and teacher, and fundamentally, enjoy presenting research findings more than doing the research.
I am also suited to conceptualize and lead on projects, as I've helped found a food bank and private business from scratch, and enjoyed the early stages of business development.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE RECRUITERS LOOKING AT YOUR PROFILE TO KNOW?
I am very flexible in my work location (anywhere in Europe) and work role (R&D, operations, communications). I hope to work in a hybrid position, as I greatly value working with a team, but also appreciate deep focus time. I love learning and hope to be in a role that requires continued education, and supports personal growth. I believe diversifying our experiences is key to fostering a more kind and productive world, and I hope to be with an organisation that values internal mobility.
