TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU...
I pursued my studies in Energy and Environmental Engineering in Edinburgh, where I helped to run the UK's largest student housing coop. My research on ML's potential in solar forecasting led to a published dissertation. Subsequently, I undertook an MSc in Energy Systems and Data Analysis at UCL. While working for Octopus Energy, I presented my dissertation findings to the Director General of Net Zero Buildings. I am freelancing as a data scientist and recently completed an AI Policy Fellowship.
WHAT CONSIDERATIONS GUIDE YOU IN DECIDING HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPEND YOUR CAREER? HOW DO YOU PRIORITIZE OR WEIGH THESE?
The three factors that are most important to me in a job are personal fit, interest, and impact. In terms of personal fit, roles at the intersection of tech and people would enable me to do my best work. I am interested in many things, including the energy transition, AI governance and safety, and democracy and participation in AI.
WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IDEAL ROLES FOR YOU, WHAT ARE SOME
KEY CHARACTERISTICS?
- having agency over my work but support when it's needed
- being at the intersection of tech and people (very happy for one to dominate but having both will likely enhance my performance)
- roles that require analytical thinking (& communication)
- interdisciplinary work
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE RECRUITERS LOOKING AT YOUR PROFILE TO KNOW?
