TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU...
I am an international security and risk analyst passionate about facilitating nuanced insights and policy solutions for complex strategic challenges. With my international relations and China studies background, prior US government work, advanced Mandarin proficiency, and interests in AI, existential risk, and futures studies, I aspire to culminate my experience in a public-interest analytical career developing sustainable and collaborative solutions to systemic & emerging global security risks.
WHAT CONSIDERATIONS GUIDE YOU IN DECIDING HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPEND YOUR CAREER? HOW DO YOU PRIORITIZE OR WEIGH THESE?
My first career priority is aligning subject area with personal interests, i.e., working as close as possible to the nexus of global AI governance & policy from a risk analysis & management lens, particularly on Chinese AI and US-China race dynamics. Second is roles with a public interest over profit motive and cooperative over competitive ethos. Third is roles with a primary analytical function, where I can hone and apply subject matter expertise with public research, writing & policy advising.
WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IDEAL ROLES FOR YOU, WHAT ARE SOME
KEY CHARACTERISTICS?
An ideal role for me would be, on top of above criteria: (1) international in nature and scope, (2) apply my Mandarin skills & China background, (3) involve governance, policy, & institutions (directly as a US government/international organization employee or indirectly as a think tank, research, or advisory firm employee working on such topics), (4) nonpartisan, and (5) allow me to share visions of different futures & policy paths and write creatively & persuasively on major global challenges.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE RECRUITERS LOOKING AT YOUR PROFILE TO KNOW?
I am a dual US-UK citizen. I thus hold rights to permanently reside and work in the UK without employer sponsorship/visa status. This could mean I am a particularly good fit for organizations based in the UK as well as the US, where I am currently based, and would also be particularly willing to relocate there if necessary.
