TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU...
I'm a problem solver with 10 years of experience in remote startups working across marketing, project management, ops, and data, also as a team lead and with a side gig as a productivity coach. Since early 2023, I got more involved in AI safety with a goal to use existing skills to contribute to the field. Selected associated non-work keywords based on which we might connect: Less Wrong/rationality, vegan, effective altruism, EDs, Anki, digital nomad, no-code, poly, date me docs.
WHAT CONSIDERATIONS GUIDE YOU IN DECIDING HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPEND YOUR CAREER? HOW DO YOU PRIORITIZE OR WEIGH THESE?
There are 3 aspects my career needs to satisfy:
Cause Area: After reviewing my timelines, it would be inconsistent with my beliefs to work on any other cause than reducing risks from AI.
Use & Sharpen Existing Skills: The set of competencies I already have can make a counterfactual difference. The ability to use and improve them contributes to my long-term motivation.
Cultural Fit: Value alignment with the team is one aspect to consider. Another is the low friction involved in daily exchanges.
WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IDEAL ROLES FOR YOU, WHAT ARE SOME
KEY CHARACTERISTICS?
*Ability to Influence Strategy & Decision-Making: I want to feel my opinion matters.
*Chance to Set Up & Improve Processes: I want to be able to use my optimizer's mindset.
*Fast Feedback Cycles: I like to see the results of what I do.
*Long Blocks of Time for Analytical Thinking*: I thrive when I can focus.
*Variety of Tasks: I wither in a repetitive job; smaller orgs/startups are ideal for me.
*A Team that Prioritizes Mental Health*: I'm in for a marathon, not a sprint that leads to burnout.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE RECRUITERS LOOKING AT YOUR PROFILE TO KNOW?
Practical matters: I have a UK and EU passports. While I'm happy to relocate pretty much anywhere (depending on the compensation and job fit), I'd ideally maintain location-independence.
