TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU...
I am a Product Manager working for NewGlobe, a social enterprise which operates schools in LMICs. My role involves leading on the development of instructional & school management products at scale in low-tech environments. Previously, I was working as Manager of a Learning Innovation team, where I was responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of educational RCTs and partnering with external academic research partners on the analysis and publication of results.
WHAT CONSIDERATIONS GUIDE YOU IN DECIDING HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPEND YOUR CAREER? HOW DO YOU PRIORITIZE OR WEIGH THESE?
I am aligned with the principles of Effective Altruism and am motivated to use my career to have tangible positive impact. While I see value in other routes to impact such as earning to give, I would personally feel more motivated if my work had direct impact, so this is one of the most important considerations in my career. It is also important that I feel like the work I do is intellectually stimulating, so I would not be comfortable in a very admistrative role.
WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IDEAL ROLES FOR YOU, WHAT ARE SOME
KEY CHARACTERISTICS?
My ideal role would be one which has positive impact, especially in the fields of global development (research, EdTech, (Mental) HealthTech...) or sentience research. I would want my next role to be one where I can apply and enhance my skills, gain new ones and grow professionally, and be engaged with the work and cause area. I would also like a good team culture and some amount of team work.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE RECRUITERS LOOKING AT YOUR PROFILE TO KNOW?
I have some uncertainty about my next career move, I am open to staying in product management, going back to a research or project management role, or combining product and resarch (e.g. UX research).
