TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU...

I'm Carolyn, and I'm in my fourth year of undergrad at UC Berkeley studying applied mathematics and computer science. I'm excited to pursue careers related to AI safety, meta-EA, or suffering risks. I've been community building for 1.5 years, leading Berkeley's AI safety and EA groups.
I'm very open to various, promising career opportunities, such as software engineering (cybersecurity, ML engineering, or general SWE), fieldbuilding, communications, project/program management, or policy.

WHAT CONSIDERATIONS GUIDE YOU IN DECIDING HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPEND YOUR CAREER? HOW DO YOU PRIORITIZE OR WEIGH THESE?

I care deeply about creating high social impact in my career and am strongly inspired by EA principles. I also prioritize personal wellbeing and seek to balance this with career goals.
I have a preference for being in the Bay Area or working remotely. For post-university opportunities, I prefer financial security and knowing where I’ll be six months from then. I’m happy to reconsider both of these, given an exciting opportunity.

WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IDEAL ROLES FOR YOU, WHAT ARE SOME

KEY CHARACTERISTICS?

Career preferences, in order of importance:
Stable and sustainable
Access to mentorship and learning opportunities
Flexible schedule, especially allowing for focused and uninterrupted work
Minimal to some structure in my career
Collaborating with a good team

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE RECRUITERS LOOKING AT YOUR PROFILE TO KNOW?
